Los Angeles Galaxy Team Biography

Founded: 1996

Nickname: LA Galaxy

Pitch: The Home Depot Center

Capacity: 27,000

Sponsor: Herbalife

Located in Carson, California, the La Galaxy were one of the ten founding teams of the MLS. Over their past seasons, the Galaxy have taken advantage of new rules and have had lots of success. Winning the MLS Cup in 2002 and 2005, the LA Galaxy also had the best record in Major League Soccer in 1998.

In 2007, MLS voted to allow each team to have a designated player or a "superstar". The Galaxy were the first MLS team to take full advantage of the Designated Player Rule by signing English star David Beckham for five years. Hoping to make a run for another MLS Cup championship, the Los Angeles Galaxy also signed star forward Carlos Ruiz. With Landon Donavan and David Beckham within the midfield, the Galaxy are favorites to win the MLS crown.
