The vast majority of citizens in the United States have an immigration story somewhere in thier family's ancestory. Families and individuals come to the United States for dreams of a better life, work, family, adventure or to escape situations within their homeland. Many of these stories involve individuals who come to the United States through legal means. However, there are undocumented individuals currently living in the United States and countries throughout the world for these same reasons.

We wanted to create a website to tell the story of legal and undocumented individuals. We have personal connections to many of these stories. Some are our stories and our experiences, some depict our learning about the topic. We did not always agree with everything we learned and included in our research, however we wanted to present a true picture of feelings and events concerning immigration.

We hope that you better understand the desires and journies of the immigrant after reading our site.

The fight for freedom
By Ivana

When you cross the fence,
there is no sense,
to go back to your country.
After war and hunger,
there is no way,
what so ever.

But when you think of America,
and the rusty green lady,
with her torch of peace,
think a minute, sit on a bench.
Isn't she French?

The bell of liberty,
the freedom that rings.
Don't destroy your wish,
It is British.

So as you can see,
freedom is an immigrant.
You have to fight to get over,
and you have to fight to be free.
