Pyrotechnic activities are threatening the ecosystem!
The Romanian policy regarding environment issues respects international rule. Local authorities are responsible for overseeing the correct function of these rules, through qualified personnel for environment protection, and must work together with the National Urgent Situations Service in accordance with article 96 paragraph 9/10 number 195 written on 22/12/2006 from the Romanian Constitution.
The biggest problem facing the Delta is of human origins.-Controlled burnout of the land.- Our team went in the region and saw the natural disasters caused by these fires, so we asked the mayor of the village of Maluc to enlighten us. His response shocked us all.
“The main cause of these fires is poaching. Hunters don’t respect hunting law and because the land stretches for miles, they can’t be caught by the authorities. Their main strategy is to round up all the animals into reservations where wild boars, deer, rabbits, vixen all live together. Because of these fires, defenseless animals are forced out of their burrows and are also instantly hunted without mercy nor pity.”
The damage produced by these fires is alarmingly high for the entire ecosystem because the fauna, flora are all destroyed not to mention the amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere. The mayor assured us that they were doing their best at sending these criminals to justice, but is this true ? We doubt it. He also said that a need of financial assistance is urgent, but there is no one willing to cover the costs of maintenance.
Among these sad news, there is still hope. Companies involved in tourism plan to build an infrastructure to attract foreigners. Hopefully, one of the turists might be a rich man with a big heart that will and put an end to the destruction of the environment once and for all.
