Jordan
My name is Jordan, I was very excited when my teacher asked me if I wanted to be part of "Thinkquest!" The first thing I did was check out Last year's winners. In our site, I was pretty much, the "Computer Man." I made most of the links, editing, pages, backrounds, uploaded the pictures, anchors, and I wrote the questions for the Quiz. I had a lot of fun working with the other team members. Thinkquest is a big commitment! I had to work hours and hours at school, home, weekends, and holidays! I had fun anyway, it's fun to look back and see how all our hard work turned out. The hours and hours payed off!! I think Mr. Brown picked a very good team to work on this Thinkquest project. Thanks to my parents, my teacher, and Thinkquest for helping me along with all this hard work!
I have been involved in the local theater. I like acting on stage in front of my friends and family. How you present yourself on stage is very important. It allows the audience to believe in the story. That is why I took over the job of designing our website. Making sure all our links work and our pages look nice and organize is important to the viewer of our site. I like the way our site looks.
Jenna
My name is Jenna, I was in charge of the Captive Breeding and Habitat Conservation issues. I had to complete the research for each topic. Learning about DNA and how it determines what I look like was interesting. I have always wondered why I have red hair and most of my friends have black or brown. I learned about conserving energy and water in forth grade Science. I didn't realize how important it is to save an animals natural habitat before this project. Zoos don't have enough space to take care of all the animals in the world. I also did a little work on the history page. This whole project was a lot of fun for me, I learned how to work together with a team and to trust in my talents as a writer and artist. I drew most of the pictures for the Enrichment page and the Zoo history page.
I really enjoy playing all different kinds of sports. I like being part of a team. When you are part of a team you get a chance to work with a lot of different people. I have made a lot of new friends because of sports. This project allowed me the chance to work with a group of kids that are different from me. I now have three new friends.
Mallory
My name is Mallory, when my teacher asked me to take part in this Thinkquest competition I said yes. I was in charge of Naturalistic enclosure issue. I did the research for this issues and rated the pictures of the zoo enclosures on a scale from 1 to 10. I learned that animals in a naturalistic enclosure are healthier then those in a cage with bars. In other words, the animals behave like they would in the wild when a naturalistic enclosure is used.
I am a very shy person and don't like drawing attention to myself. I enjoyed working with this small group of kids. I was able to show them that I can be alot of fun and that I am very smart too. It took a lot of time and effort to make our website but it was worth it.
Logan
My name is Logan, and I was in charge of the Environmental enrichment issue. It was challenging when I wrote a story about Willie B. the ape. Willie is a great example of how we can improve the lives of animals in captivity. My skills are writing, scanning pictures, creativing Imovies and I did a lot of work on the computers.
I have been in wrestling for a long time. Wrestling has taught me to not give up when things aren't going my way. Around Christmas time the team wanted to stop working on the project. I helped keep the team going on the project. I just knew we could do it. I am glad we stayed with the project.
Mr.Brown
I have taught at the Elementary level for the past 25 years. The use of technology in my classroom is done on a daily bases. My job as an educator is to prepare my students for the jobs in the 21st century. Being part of Thinkquest is just one way I help prepare my student. I am very proud of all the work these students have completed. They were willing to work on the project during their spring break. They used their different strengths and diversity to complete this project on time.
