About Our Website

AIDS Orphans: A Lost Generation is a website centering on the HIV/AIDS and AIDS orphan crises. The content of this website includes background information on HIV/AIDS, an overview of AIDS orphans in various world regions, the global impacts of AIDS orphans, current individual and group efforts to help aid and prevent future AIDS orphans, and ways to get involved. The target audience for this website is young adults, as the HIV/AIDS crisis is a serious topic with mature themes. This website is an entry into the ThinkQuest International 2008 Website Competition.

Our team decided to create a website on AIDS orphans because we believed that the issue of AIDS orphans is a pressing but underexposed topic. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to create a website about orphans, who are some of the most disadvantaged children in the world. In the end we decided to focus on AIDS orphans because they are forced to live especially difficult lives. After experiencing the painful death of a parent, AIDS orphans are often left to look after their younger siblings and sometimes live as street children or domestic workers. AIDS orphans who are fortunate enough to have an extended family to support them still often must deal with instances of extreme poverty. We hope to reveal this pressing issue so that others may take action to get involved and help these innocent children.
