Species and uses

Sal, sandalwood, and rosewood are some species growing here. Teak, being the hardest, is most used in the shipbuilding, furniture and construction industries.

Bamboos are used for houses, furniture, baskets, water pipes and fishing poles. Paper can also be manufactured from bamboo. Young bamboo shoots are edible.
