Tropical monsoon forests

Characteristics

In a tropical monsoon forest, growth is seasonal. Trees shed their leaves in the dry season to overcome the long drought.

Broad and leathery, their leaves have drip tips. The tree trunks are huge. Their roots grow deep and wide to obtain as much water and nutrients as possible. The trees tend to be shorter while their canopies are smaller.
