Information on how rainforests are being used is important to curb deforestation. All of us should be aware that there must be a sufficient demand for sustainable rainforest products to achieve the successful conservation of rainforests.
Such information can be disseminated through the media and can be built into the school's curriculum. No child is too young to be taught to protect their environment.
We can do our part by purchasing sustainable rainforest products to support this cause. This is preferred to cutting the forest just for the value of its timber.
The provision of information to farmers is also essential. Many of the farmers who clear the forests for agriculture are ignorant about the importance of forests and the dire consequences of deforestation. As such, they cut down or burn the forests for subsistence farming, without realising the dire consequences of their act.
