Conservation of forests

Forest protection

Forests must be protected from forest fires, wild animals, pests and diseases. Regular inspection can ensure a healthy forest.

Forests can be conserved as national parks or indigenous reserves. Many environmental groups are helping to save the forests by buying up rainforests.

Developing balanced land-use plans with provisions for tourism, biodiversity conservation and watershed protection will enable the forests to be conserved. This will also help to preserve the indigenous people living within the forests.

You will be surprised to learn that harvesting of rainforests' fruits and medicinal plants has more economic value than if they were cut down for grazing land. The use of sustainable resources can stop the destruction of the rainforest.

Are you aware that many rainforest countries have united recently to establish a rainforest conservation fund? It works like this. Rich countries pay poorer farmers some money to preserve the forest.
