Protection of soil

Introduction
 
Trees prevent soil erosion as well as maintain soil fertility. In some countries, trees prevent desertification. Windbreaks and shelterbelts protect crops as this improves rainfall and prevent soil erosion. Shelterbelts are able to improve grain yield too.
