| Global warming- The El Niño Effect |
|
Introduction
The El Nino Effect is the result of major temperature fluctuations in surface waters in the Pacific Ocean. This causes prolonged drought in countries like Indonesia and Australia. On the other hand, there is heavy rain and flood in countries like Peru.
Aggravation of forest fires
The El Nino effect is more noticeable during periods of droughts.
Deforestation and El Niño
Many of the countries which are most affected by El Nino Southern Oscillations (ENSO) events are developing countries largely dependent on agriculture and fisheries where deforestation has occurred.
