Desertification

Introduction

Desertification refers to poor land conditions in drier climates as a result of global warming and poor practices. This is a consequence of our unsustainable land use. Hence, before trees are cut down, there must be strong justification and plans to replant them either in the same area or in other areas.

Growing populations make increasing demands on land and this can lead to desertification. Notice the desert fringe in the background.
