Introduction
Trees are cut down for paper pulp production. This has happened in the Brazilian Amazon where 5600 square miles of Amazon Rainforest was destroyed.
In Indonesia, rainforests are burnt to yield land to plant acacia trees for the paper industry. One paper factory needs a tremendous amount of rainforest wood daily to produce the amount of electricity needed to run the project. Once again, this illustrates that the demand on the forest is really big.
It is our responsibility to reduce the demand for paper. Learn how you can help in the solution section. |
