Waste from the paper mills
Paper fibres can only be recycled a few times. Hence, low-quality used fibres are separated out to become waste sludge. Inks and dyes become part of the waste solids.
This sludge fills much of the landfill space each year. Recycling, therefore, serves only as part of the solution. We need to do something about the increasing demand for paper and this is where the paperless trail will certainly make its presence felt in the near future. |
