Forest fires

Mechanisms

There are many ways from which a fire can spread from its point of origin. In “crawling” fire, the fire spreads via bushes. In "crown" fire, the fire spreads over the canopies. In "jumping" or "spotting" fire, winds carry burning twigs to start distant fires. The smouldering fire in peat forests is another form of wildfire. It may last for a long time.
