Development is essential for any country. Population growth results in an increase in demand for new land. Roads, railways, bridges and canals have to be built for transportation.
To obtain the space and materials needed to build these things, forests have to be cleared.
Hence, population growth, poverty and landlessness drive the government to clear our precious forests for housing, cultivation, development, mining and petroleum extraction. |
