| Bukit Timah Nature Reserve |
|
Introduction
This 164ha rainforest also includes Singapore's highest hill (163m). It is Singapore's oldest primary rainforest.
Much of the original forest cover has been preserved. This would be a great trail for those who have never seen a tropical rainforest before. You are so close to nature here that you can even touch the drip tip leaves, buttress roots and walk through the forest without much problem.
Biodiversity
Over 840 flowering plants and 500 species of animals thrive in this forest. These include tall rainforest trees, ferns and gingers. Some animals native to this forest include
the Long-tailed Macaques. Other animals that may interest you are the Flying lemurs and squirrels. Forest birds include drongos and bulbuls. These are endangered species. |
