Bali, Indonesia

Introduction

The island of Bali, measuring 5,632 square kilometers, is part of the Republic of Indonesia It lies near the equator between Java and Lombok. The tropical rainforest can be found on this island. Volcanoes make the land very fertile but volcanic eruptions are also known to cause deforestation, as illustrated by some of our photographs in this slide show.


Flora:

Banyan trees, tamarind trees, clove trees and mangroves can be found here. You can enjoy the beautiful hibiscus, bougainvillea, frangipani and orchids too.


Fauna:

Various species of monkeys, civets, barking deer and mouse deer can be found here. Bird-watchers from all over the world come here to marvel at the hundreds of species of birds that are native to this island. These include the wild fowl, blue kingfishers and egrets.
