Under Islamic teachings, Muslims have a clear understanding on what is against their faith and religion. An insensitive remark about the Muslim faith may result in severe consequences. For the Muslims, honor is the rock upon which social status rests. (Dupree, 2002) This civilizational trait is shown clearly in a recent conflict where the Muslim faith is violated. The cartoon controversy involving Prophet Muhammad ["The face of Muhammad"] caused discontentment among Muslim communities, as it is seen as a racist act and disrespectful towards the Muslim community. In retaliation, Muslims stormed Dutch and Norwegian embassies in Gaza City and Syria. This misunderstanding has caused a split among both the Islamic and Western Civilization and the situation may worsen if a compromise is not reached.
