World Food Programme

The WFP, a branch of the United Nations, is the largest human aid organization in the world providing aid to those who need it most. in 2006 they reached out to almost 100 million people and provided them with neccesary aid. With your help through donations they will be able to help many more of those who are needy.

According to the WFP’s website:
WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger. Operations aim to:

  • Save lives in refugee crises and other emergencies
  • improve nutrition and quality of life of world's most vulnerable people at critical times in their lives
  • Enable development by (a) helping people build assets that benefit them directly; (b) promoting self-reliance of poor people and communities.

The friends of the world food program is a very large US based organisation whcih aims to tackle issues regarding to malnutrition. It has done work all around the globe and has formed partnerships with many other global organisations which aim to target the same problem. Their goals are stated on their website as:

Save The Children

This is what Save the Children has to say about malnutrition: “Save the Children mobilizes communities and partner organizations to address the root causes of food insecurity, targeting the most vulnerable, usually young children and their mothers. Food aid and monetary resources are used to manage programs focused on improving agricultural production and household nutrition, as well as responding to emergency needs. GAIN is one of the leading organisations in the fight against malnutrition. It is a global alliance of governments and organisations which aims to eliminate malnutrition. It has partners within the food industry, United Nations and world governments. To quote GAIN’s website: “GAIN works to improve the nutritional status of 1 billion people to save lives and reduce disease; improve individual wellbeing, enjoyment and productivity; and thereby reduce poverty and stimulate economic growth.
We focus on reducing the prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies among target groups by increasing the regular consumption of fortified foods.“

Oxfam is the largest organization in Australia aiming to reduce worldwide poverty and social prejudice. It is not-for-profit and non-religious.
