Diversity
Malnutrition is a truly global pandemic, to present this we drew from our hugely diverse backgrounds.
How are we diverse? Sam is an Asian American who lives in the US but was born in China. Joseph's parents are from Hong Kong, but grew up in the US and Australia. Anthony was born and raised in Australia, he is of mixed Korean and English heritage. This rich and varied mix of backgrounds have allowed us to view the problem of malnutrition from diverse perspectives.
One of these first hand experiences comes from Sam. Sam was touched by poverty when he grew up in China, and this showed in the lack of proper nutrition when he grew up. When he moved to the US and his socio-economic status improved he realized the two extremes of malnutrition and how different cultures are affected differently. This vital experiences allowed him to view and first hand report on the problem that is malnutrition.
Our thoughts and skills while unique have allowed us to express our individual opinions. It is this difference that has shaped the website into a pastiche of different opinions which allows the individual from any global community to feel affinity with our aim - to eliminate malnutrition. It is difficult to present an objective view sometimes. Often prejudices will prevent one from truly providing an unbiased view and thus we sought multiple opinions from a wide range of sources. We drew from not only expert sources but also from first hand accounts of those who have been touched by malnutrition. To keep an open mind and to represent this was one of the most rewarding experiences.
When we write on malnutrition, our rich experiences are felt through how we express ourselves. It is this richness that has shaped the website immensley. Our diversity in culture and role have allowed us to come up with different ideas and approaches. These differences were incorporated to present a broader and more global perspective. Often, time and ideological differences presented themselves, but through understanding these were resolved to create a website that is based on perspective of global tolerance.
The diversity we have has allowed us, to present the information from multiple perspectives, to suggest different approaches and ideas, to realize the global nature and importance of our topic, to overcome our differences and work together and to merge all these ideas to create a truly unique website.
