What
Causes Lack of Water and Poor Sanitation
What are the Effects of no clean water/sanitation
About 42% of the world’s population of families live in poverty. People living in poverty generally have poor water access and sanitation due to the fact that the water is contaminated by wild animals who put diseases in the water due to their slobber and droppings in this water. Humans and animals often have the same water to drink.
There are a large number of diseases linked to poor water management and sanitation this is exemplified due to the fact that approximately 4500 children worldwide die a day due to water and sanitation related issues.
No water continues to reinforce the poverty cycle. Water is essential for the food security of the poor, meaning that without water they cannot grow food so they starve to death. They can’t have manufacturing and any other services because they generally use water. Disease is more common in areas with poor water quality. They live either in closed areas such as a little town filled with contaminated water from animals and crowded with lots of people, or in areas where there is no one in sight and the food and water supply is very far away. These families travel daily to get water, this trip is very tiring.
