Endangered Animals
There are many endangered animals living in our oceans. Some of these include shark species (like the great white shark and grey nurse sharks), lots of whale types (blue, right and fin whales), red salmon, sea lions, sawfish, silver salmon, fur and monk seals, some turtle species, giant catfish, dolphins, coelacanth, dugong, manatee, totoaba, sea otter, whales, seals, green and sea turtles, penguins, sea dragon, finless porpoise and balic surgeon.
Many seas animals have become endangered because of overfishing, through both commerical and recreational fishing. Many of the animals hunted for food, skins, medicine, oils and some for sport. Other causes of endangerment include habitat destruction and alteration through the removal of mangroves and the construction of man made items like canals. Some sea creatures have also been killed through boating and from pollution (items like plastic bags, fishing line, oil spills etc have caused many sea creatures death.
We can help stop the increase of endangered animals in the sea by limiting pollution and hunting. It is understandalbe that we can not totally ban fishing and the like but we need quotas to enforce what can be caught. We need to ensure there are laws that govern fishing and the people and boats that use the waterways so that oil spills and pollution can be limited. We also need to stop habit destruction, pass some treaties that protect animal and construct dams more carefully.
