Different organizations and programs
+++USAP (United States Antarctica Program)
Its a program funded by the US governments National Science Foundation. It aims to promote science research and exploration to the polar areas based on the principal of observing Antarctic Treaty. It aims to become the avant-garde in studying the interaction between the Antarctica and the rest of the planet by conducting research in various fields, biology, geophysics, astronomy, thus to maximize the benefits of the US and the whole world.
+++The Antarctic Treaty
The treaty was signed in June 23 in 1961, by 12 countries which were active in scientific research, covering the area south of 60 degrees latitude. Objectives: to demilitarize Antarctica, to establish it as a zone free of nuclear tests and the disposal of radioactive waste, and to ensure that it is used for peaceful purposes only; to promote international scientific cooperation in Antarctica; to set aside disputes over territorial sovereignty.
+++International Polar Year
It is a cooperative international effort from different countries in researching polar areas. This is motivated by Karl Weyprecht, an Austro-Hungarian navy officer and Georg Neumayer. They proposed to explore the polar area by in-the-flesh measurement at different locations, allowing more valuable interpretation of acquired data. This program aims to effectively explore the polar areas by sharing the observations and experience internationally.
+++Barents Euro Arctic Council (BEAC)
It is a forum to facilitate international and intergovernmental cooperation in Barents Region. Via the forum, a lot of new initiatives and proposals to explore the Arctic regions are considered and discussed. For example, an International Barents Secretariat was established at the 11th BEAC Session at Rovaniemi on 15 November 2007
