In this section, we will recommend some methods that involve reusing
that you can try. Below are a few ideas.
Tip 1: Use plastic
bags that are given when you are shopping to collect all the garbage.
In this way, you do not need to purchase a new garbage bag, and will
help to generate less waste.
Tip 2: Use old cloths
that you do not want or are torn as rags for cleaning purposes. Thus,
these clothing will be put into good use.
Tip 3: Turn paper
that is unwanted anymore into a notebook for note taking. In this way,
you do not have to buy a new notebook.
Tip 4: Give away your
old books and toys to your friends or relatives. (There is a project in
Singapore where old textbooks are donated to people who are poor to buy
them.) So, new books and toys will not have to be bought anymore.
Tip 5: If you have
old and unwanted clothing that are too small for you to fit but are not
torn yet, ask your parents to pass them to other people so that they
will not have to buy new ones. They may like it very much.
Tip 6: If you do not
want any stuff that can still be used, sell them to second-hand shops.
The item will not be turned into waste and you can still earn some
money.
Tip 7: If your
electrical appliances are faulty but can still be repaired and used,
ask your parents to repair it so that you do not have to buy a new one.
Tip 8: If a paper is
printed on 1 side only, and you do not want it anymore, reuse the other
side of the paper by using it for drafting purposes instead of using
another fresh piece of paper.
Tip 9: If you have
any empty plastic bottles or glass jars/bottle, use them as pots to
plant flowers in your home instead of buying a new pot.
Tip 10: instead of
using only 1 side of the paper, use both side instead so that paper
will not be wasted (by using only 1 side, more paper will be needed.)
Tip 11: Other than
donating books to charity organizations, you can give them to the
library so that they would not have to buy new books again.
Tip 12: Instead of
buying new envelopes for mails, reuse used envelopes so that you can
produce less waste (More waste will be produced if more envelopes are
used.)

Tip 13: Reuse old
files to contain your new documents instead of buying another new file.
Simply remove the old documents and you can use the file for other
purposes again.
Tip 14: As your
parents to reuse ornaments for festivals celebration (e.g. New Year
banner, Christmas trees) for next year instead of throwing them away.
Thus, you do not have do buy new ornaments again.
Tip 15: If you have
plastic bottles, you can use them as water bottles, which can be
brought to school and work, instead of buying a new bottle. Thus, the
plastic bottles will not be turned into waste and you can also save
money.
Tip 16: Instead of
buying a new thumb drive when your old one has no space left, delete
the old files that you do not want or are not important so that you can
store your new documents.
Tip 17: Reuse the old
newspapers that you do not want anymore for many other purposes (E.g.
for art and craft lessons…).
Tip 18: Other items
that can be recycled should be kept. Examples are rubber bands, paper
clips and lots more. They may be small, but they contribute a lot too.
You can still reuse them on another day when you needed it.
