| Crude Impact |
|
The movie “Crude
Impact” is a documentary film written and directed by James
Jandak Wood in 2006. In the movie, we get to learn and know more about
why using fossil fuels and oil changes our environment and climate and
the ways we can help out.
The film lets us know how fossil
fuels and natural oil have made an impact on the environment. In the
beginning, the movie shows us the history of oil and fossil fuels, how
and when it was discovered, and how it was used in the industry.
However, the impact of all the fossil fuels and oil on our environment
has become serious. The burning and usage of the fuels and oil have
released all the greenhouse gases, which contributed to Global Warming.
All these are what we will get to know in this film. Also, other than
the topic of fossil fuels and oil, the film also explores the topic of
climate change, solutions to all these problems and the economic
problems about the fuels and oil.
That’s not all. It also
includes interviews and many different views from experts on this
topic. If you want to get to know more about crude oil and its impact
on the economics and environment, you must not miss this film!

|
Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners are the directors the 2007
film “The 11th Hour”. Leonardo Dicaprio is the
narrator of this film. In the film, he talks about the
Earth’s current condition and how all this affects humanity.
In this movie, together with
views and ideas from many other, Leonardo discusses what humans have
done that damaged our Earth. Evidences of global warming, extinction of
species and pollution are shown. We must do something to lessen the
damages caused during the last decades, or else not only will our
environment, but we too, will be in danger. The film gives us solutions
to all these problems. Although the damages have already been done, we
can still do something to reduce it. Experts have suggested that
instead of controlling and destroying Earth and its environment, we
should be able to accept and protect the Earth and environment.
If you are quite interested in
learning about our Earth’s current condition, watch this
movie! You will get to know about views from experts all over the world!
“We all have to do our
part to raise awareness about global warming and the problems we as a
people face in promoting a sustainable environmental future for our
planet.”

| An Inconvenient Truth |
|
The 2006 film, “An Inconvenient
Truth”, is narrated by Al Gore, the Ex-USA Vice President,
and directed by Davis Guggenheim. It tells us about the
“truth”- Earth is in danger. We have to do
something to help earth recover from all these damages that we have
caused.
In the movie, Al Gore lets us
know about some of the disasters that had happened recently all around
the world. He explained that most of these disasters (e.g. flooding,
heat waves, abnormal climate) are actually caused by global warming,
and significant climate changes that are happening all around the
world. He has also discussed ways of preventing global warming and how
helpful they are in helping the situation. Economical changes due to
Global Warming are also discussed.
If you wanted to understand how
global warming affects our life, and some amazing facts about global
warming, be sure to watch this film!!
“My fellow Americans,
people all over the world, we need to solve the climate crisis, it's
not a political issue, it's a moral issue.”
“The planet has a fever.
If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor.”

| Live Earth |
|
On 7th July 2007, a 24-hour non-stop concert was held worldwide in many
countries (7 different locations across the world) such as London, New
York, Shanghai. This event was called “Live earth”.
Its purpose is to fight, prevent climate changes, and spread the
message that we should protect our own environment. All money collected
from the concert will be donated to help battle global warming. During
the concert, there were more than 100 bands and singers performing.
Al Gore was the one who thought
of the idea for Live Earth, as there were also concerts in the past
that were held to promote the idea that we must prevent global warming
and others. During the concert, people were asked to take a pledge
saying that they will promise to help save our Earth whenever they can.
This also reminds us that we should find a solution, or else Earth will
be in danger. The Live Earth concert is certainly different from other
concerts, as renewable energy had been used to power the whole event.
Although the event/concert is
already over, you can still get the DVD. If you enjoy listening to
music, get the DVD! I am sure you will enjoy it!!

| Saving Gaia |
|
The documentary series, Saving
Gaia, is a 6-episode series that shows us the problems many of the
cities and countries are facing today, such as air pollution,
desertification, animal extinction, oil problems and what the countries
are doing to prevent all these.
In the 1st episode, the problem
that they describe about is the fact that lands are sinking in many
countries and the reasons and solutions for it. In the 2nd episode, the
problem about animal extinction is also discussed. Animals are losing
their habitat every day, as forests are being cleared. If these acts
are not stopped, many animals will become extinct. In the 3rd episode,
the problem of air pollution in many cities was shown. Toxic and
chemicals were released into the air by vehicles and factories, thus
causing pollution.
In the 4th episode,
water pollution was discussed. Many rivers in Asia are useless now as
they are polluted. Thus, where does the people get their daily supply
of water from? The problem was also further discussed. During the 2nd
last episode, the oil problem was discussed. Alternatives to crude oil
and fossil fuels are suggested as one day, the supply of oil and fossil
fuels is going to run out. Lastly, the series has also suggested how we
can fight and battle these disasters and what the countries in Asia are
doing now.
Watch this documentary series now
as I assure you that you will enjoy it!
