       We have included this glossary because we did not know what some of these words meant, and we thought you might not either.

Biodiversity-         

Preserving the variety of plant and animal life in an environment.

 

Conservation-       

The preservation of the natural environment and natural resources.

 

Consumerism-      

The theory that an increasing consumption of goods is economically beneficial.

 

Ecology-               

The relationships between living organisms and their environment including other organisms.

 

Economy-            

The management of the resources of a community, country, etc. in regards to its productivity.

 

Energy Efficiency-

The ratio of the energy output to the energy input of any system.

 

Entrepreneurship-

The process of taking on a business ventures while assuming the financial risks.

 

Environment-        

The external surroundings in which a plant or animal lives.

 

Stewardship-        

The act of managing some property or other affairs for someone else. Being in charge of taking good care of something.

 

Sustainability-       

The degree that any human activity is able to continue indefinitely without damaging, polluting or removing more of the natural environment than will renew itself.
