The Mongolian language is the best-known member of the Mongolia language family and the primary language of most of the residents of Mongolia, where it is officially written with the Cyrillic alphabet. It is also spoken in some of the surrounding areas in northern China, the Russian Far East and Kyrgyzstan. The majority of people in Mongolia speak the Khalkha dialect, while those in China speak the Chahar, Oyirad, and Barghu-Buryat dialect groups. In Mongolia some people speak English. There are also some people who speak Russian. The language in Mongolia is Mongolian and not many people speak English. They learn English in school but not many people have a use for it unless they go to the university. In Mongolia some people speak Russian because they were part of the Soviet Union.
