humphreyIf you have a love of fantasy you should read The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney. This book is about a hamster named Humphrey. Humphrey can't talk but he can understand people. It tells about his life in classroom 26. Every weekend Humphrey has to go home to a different house. It also tells about what he does who he meets, and what the families do. Sayeh Nasiris and her family speak Spanish and Humphrey has a hard time understanding them. A.J. Thomas and his family are addicted to TV and Humphrey gets tired of being ignored and pulls the plug! Mr. Morals, the principal, had to take Humphrey home when room 26 got a new teacher and he ignored Humphrey. He was very rude!
If I could change something about The World According to Humphrey I would make the description of Humphrey more specific. I'd like to know what color he is, how old he is, and what shape he has. This Young Hoosier nominee is good for all ages. As I was reading this book I picked out things I liked. One of the things I like is at the end of the book is that the author left a cliffhanger (something that leaves you wanting to read more). If you have a love for fantasy and humor read The World According To Humphrey.
