Tips for a Book Talk:

  1. You should never book talk a book you haven't read
  2. Don't ever give away any of the good parts
  3. Keep the book talk short and exciting
  4. You should use a cliff hanger when you can

You Could:

  1. Read a part of the book (excerpt)
  2. Share about the characters, part of the plot, and the setting (narrative)
  3. Become one of the main characters in the book (first person)

Some Types:

  1. Slide Show- use pictures and words to tell about the book, you can be creative and add your voice too
  2. Live Action- you can write a skit or act out a part of the book
  3. Mixed Media- you can combine slide shows and live action
  4. Written- write your book talk in paragraph form. This can be put in a newsletter or posted on a bulletin board.

The Walk Through-digital book talks:

  1. Read the book that you're book talking first
  2. You can be creative and come up with your own ideas for your booktalk or pick a type from above
  3. Make a storyboard and a script from part of the book
  4. Collect your video, photos, or clip art
  5. You can make your digital book talk using Windows Movie Maker or Windows Photo Story
