Do you like mystery books? If you do, you will like the book Ghost Canoe by Will Hobbs. Ghost Canoe is about a boy named Nathan. Nathan and his mother must leave the small island of Tatoosh and move to Neah Bay.
At Neah Bay Nathan meets a trader named Captain Bim. One day while Nathan was walking through the woods he found a canoe up in the trees. On his way back home, Nathan saw Bim burying a box of money which was his life savings. A native of Neah Bay, Lighthouse George, told Nathan to stay away from the canoe, because it was an ancient burial canoe.
Two days later there was a hole in the ground and the box of money was stolen. Bim had to sell his trading post to a guy named Kane because his money was stolen. Nathan finds out that Kane is after a Spanish treasure and he has already killed for it once.
Will Kane get away with murder? To find out, read Ghost Canoe. I recommend this book for Intermediate students because this book is very long and it has challenging words.
