confessionsYou might ask why I recommend that you stay away from the Seahawk...I warn you because the Seahawk is a ship whose Captain is evil and cruel. I am a 13-year-old-girl named Charlotte who is traveling to America on the Seahawk. I am not used to the type of living conditions I found on the Seahawk and I most certainly am not used to being treated poorly. My room on this ship is small and cramped. When I complained about my room size, Captain Jaggery ignore me. He treats me as if I am a nobody. Did he forget that my father owns this ship? Besides, I think that Captain Jaggery is a murderer!
During our voyage to America, I overheard a rumor about a man who was once on the Seahawk and hated the Captain. That man ended up losing his arm and was not heard of or even seen again. Did Captain Jaggery have something to do with this man's disappearance?
On board the ship I also stood trial for a murder that I didn't commit. All the crew members knew I was innocent but turned against me. I think the Captain was behind this as well.
If you like a book that has mystery, adventure and some violence, I recommend The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle written by Avi. It is the type of book that once you start reading it you cannot put down. If you have read some of Mr. Avi's great works like Poppy, or The Barn then you will love The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. I recommend this book for fifth grade readers because of the violence.
