The next avatara of Sri Maha Vishnu is Varaha, the head of a boar and the body of a man. He came down to Earth because Lord Brahma gave a boon to the dreadful demon, Hiranyaksha. The boon was that he could not be killed by any beast, man nor god. His plan was to steal every thing from all three worlds(Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld). He pushed Earth into the place that was under the sea (called Patala loka) and stole the sacred series of books, the Vedas from Lord Brahma while he was asleep. Then Lord Vishnu comes down in the form of the boar Varaha. Varaha pulled the Earth out from the Patala loka using his horns. Then he killed Hiranyaksha and retrived the books and returned them to Lord Brahma.
