Shiva's Birth

Shiva is one of the supreme gods in Hindu mythology. One myth of Shiva's birth is that he was created when Vishnu and Brahma were fighting. They were fighting over who was more powerful. While they were fighting, a giant pillar appeared. Brahma formed into a goose and flew to the top of the pillar. Vishnu formed into a boar and dug down deep into the roots of the pillar. They found nothing in there search and decided to go to the front of the pillar. As soon as they came up, Shiva emerged from an opening in the pillar. They realized how powerful he was and let him become one of the three rulers of the universe.
