Ares V: The Crew Launch Vehicle

 

Another shuttle type spacecraft accompanying the Orion is the larger part of the Ares program the Ares V. This spacecraft will be completing the following objectives during this mission, the Ares V will be the cargo vehicle and re supply the ISS(International Space Station). The Ares take heritage from the Apollo program. The Moon phase of the mission such as the orbit and base building start will be completed by the Ares and the Lunar Lander. This spacecraft is also better to use because the abort pod is able to accommodate up to 6 people.

The Ares V stands at 109 meters tall which allows the number of capabilities to increase. The Ares V may be used to explore Mars because knowing Mars is the farthest distance yet of Mission Orion if anything goes wrong all members may escape safely and hurdle back to Earth. The Ares V has 2 5-segment solid rocket boosters. The Lunar Lander is attached to the Ares V and will detach itself during the mission .

The Lunar Lander has a lot of extra oxygen tanks so no other spacecraft was able to attach it but he Ares V could because of its' enormous size. The Lunar LAnder allows astronauts to stay up in the Moon for atleast 6 months.The Earth/Moon phase which will be completed in the beggining of the Moon phase of the mission is the job of the Ares. There is a certin way to complete this mission. First the Ares V will orbit the Earth twice and then go to the Moon and orbit the Moon twice. After that The Ares will come back to Earth and land and be ready during 6 months to go and come back from the Moon.
