Virtual Simulators

SurgicalSIM

SurgicalSIM is a training system, made by METI, for medical students in many fields. It consists of a viewing screen, a keyboard, and the training tools the student holds in his or her hands. SurgicalSIM allows the students to gain valuable knowledge, techniques, experience and judgment before they start performing on live humans. It teaches the trainee how to hold and manipulate tools and tissues in a safe way. It also trains the student in positioning the cameras or endoscopes in the correct positions. The SurgicalSIM trains the students’ skills in surgeries. The training procedures can be changed depending on the gender, size and age of the patient (Virtual Simulators).

SurgicalSIM es echo por METI, para los estudiantes medicos. Consiste de una pantalla, un teclado, y las herramientas de entrenamiento. El surgical SIM deja que el estudiante aprenda informacion valuosa, tecniquas, experiencia, y tomar decisions antes de practicar en un humano. Le enseña al estudiante como agarrar y manipular las herramientas y el tejido. Tambien enseña como usar y pocisionar las camaras endoscopicas. El SurgicalSIM entrena a los estudiantes en como aser sirujias. Los procedimientos sirurjicos pueden cambiar dependiendo en el sexo, tamaño, y edad del paciente.

GI Mentor II

The GI Mentor II is made by the company Simbionix. It is the leading virtual surgery simulator for training medical students in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. The GI Mentor II consists of three parts a viewing screen, a mouse and a robotic console. It makes the endoscopic procedures seem very life like, and the force feedback feature makes the operation feel like real life. The GI Mentor is a very important tool for the medical students who want to practice gastrointestinal endoscopy (Virtual Simulators).

El GI Mentor II es echo por Simbionix. Es el lider de los simuladores para entrenamiento en endoscopia gastrointestinal. El GI Mentor II tiene tres partes la pantalla, el raton y la consola robotica.  Este entrenador ase que las sirujias endoscopicas se vean mas reales, y el resevisor de uerza ase que se sienta real. El GI Mentor II es una herramienta importante en el entrenamiento de los estudiantes de endoscopia gastrointestinal.

URO Mentor

URO Mentor is another hands on Virtual surgery simulator made by the people of Simbionix. This virtual surgery simulator is used for procedures in cystoscopy and ureteroscopy. The setup of the URO Mentor is much like the one of the GI Mentor II It has a robotic consul, a mouse and a high tech viewing screen. The URO Mentor trains the students to use a wide variety of medical and surgical tools and scopes. One feature the URO Mentor has that most of the other competing simulators do not have is that you can not only practice using rigid endoscopes but also with flexible endoscopes (Virtual Simulators).

El URO Mentor es otro simulador de sirujia virtual es echo por Simionix. Este simulador de sirujia virtual es usado por cytoscopia y para uretoscopia. El URO Mentor se parece al GI Mentor II tienen la consula robotica, el raton y una pantalla de alta tecnologia. El URO Mentor entrena a los estudiantes en el uso de instrumentos y camaras de sirujia. La cosa que el URO Mentor tiene que los otros simuladores no tienen es que puees entrenar no solo con endoscopias rijidas si no tambien con unas flexibles.

Mantis Duo

The Mantis Duo is made the people of the Mimic company. The Mantis Dou specializes in bimanual or two handed simulations. The Mantis Duo is made of three parts the high tech viewing screen, 3D goggles and finger controls. Students can use the Mantis Duo to train for surgeries and robotic surgeries. It also has a high quality force feedback in the finger controls. The trainee using the Mantis Duo is seeing what he is doing by looking into his goggles but his professor or mentor can see what the student is doing by looking at the viewing screen. The viewing screen can be exchanged between an LCD monitor and a projector. The projector is used when a larger screen is needed (Virtual Simulators).

El Mantis Duo es echo por la compania Mimic. El Mantis Duo se especializa en simulasiones de entrenamiento de dos manos. El Mantis Duo tiene tres partes la pantalla, lentes de tercera dimension y controles de dedos. Los estudiantes usan el Mantis Duo para entrenar en sirujias normales y para sirujias roboticas. Tambien tiene un regreso de fuerza de alta calidad. Durante la sirujia el estudiante ve la sirujia atravez de los lentes y el profesor ve la sirujia en la pantalla. La pantalla puede ser cambiada por un proyector si se necesita una imajen mas grande.

Procedicus VIST

The Procedicus VIST (Vascular Intervention System Trainer) is made by the Mentice company. The Procedicus VIST has three components, two screens and a robotic console. The Procedicus VIST specializes in cardiac procedures. The main operations this simulator performs are coronary, carotid, and renal interventions. The two screens can be used to view vital signs, X-Rays, blood flow and the actual operation the student is performing (Virtual Simulators).

El Procedcus VIST ( Systema Entrenador de Intervension Vascular) es echo por la compania Mentice. El Procedicus VIST tiene tres partes dos pantallas y la consola robotica. El Procedicus VIST espesializa en procedimientos cardiacos.  Las operaciones que este simulador simula son coronarias, coraticas, y intervensiones renales. Las dos pantallas pueden ser usadas par aver los signos vitales, rayos X, flujo de sangre, y la operacion que el estudiante ase.

MIST

The MIST (minimally invasive surgical trainer) is a system that was originally created by Great Britain. Now the MIST can be obtained through Mentice Medical Simulation AB from Gothenburg, Sweden. The MIST has right and left hand controls and you need to have proper tool holding skills to operate it properly. It can be programmed to different difficulty settings. The trainee’s performance can be recorded and replayed later to be analyzed. The MIST measures accuracy, errors, time, right and left hand performance, and how necessary your movements are. The MIST can tell if the user is an experienced surgeon, a beginning surgeon, or a total stranger to surgery. It can also tell if you have been drinking large amounts of alcohol or if you haven’t slept enough. One of the MIST systems is in the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg, Germany, where training on the MIST is mandatory for basic and advanced surgery courses. (McCloy)

El MIST (Entrenador de Sirujia de Minima Invasion) es un systema orijinalmente creado por Gran Britaña . Aora el MIST es vendido por Mentice Medical Simulation AB de Gothenburg, Suecia. El MIST tiene controles para ambas manos y necesitas saver como usar las herramientas para que funcione bien el systema. Puede ser programado a diferentes niveles de dificultad. La performasion puede ser gravada y luego ser vista de Nuevo para evaluacion. El MIST mide la presision, errores, tiempo, y performasion de ambas manos. El MIST puede distinguir si el usador es un sirujano experimentado, un sirujano en entrenamiento, o un estraño que no save de sirujias. Tambien save si as tomado demasiado alcol o si no as dormido adecuadamente. Uno de los sistemas MIST esta en el Instituto de Sirujia Europeo en Hamburg Alemania, en donde  el MIST es mandatorio para todos los estudiantes medicos en todas clases medicas.

PHANTOM

The PHANTOM is a part of some virtual surgery simulators. PHANTOM allows the user to feel the force of his actions through his hands. For example with PHANTOM you can feel your virtual drill going through bones, you feel a different amount of force depending on the density of the bone. (McCloy)

 

El PHANTOM es parte de unos simuladores de sirugia. El PHANTOM da la abilidad a los estudiantes de sentir las acsiones que acen. Por ejemplo puedes sentir el taladro penetrar el hueso de diferentes densidades.
