Products labeled “made in Italy ” are garments that most of the time are manufactured in China and are later imported to Italy and then sold around the world. The Italian sweatshops finish the manufacturing of the pelts of animals that are imported to Italy from China . The people that work in the sweatshops in Italy are mainly illegal immigrant workers from China . In Italy , they manufacture pelts imported in, however the cat fur is illegal to import into Italy . Studies made on fur-trimmed Italian garments have discovered that labels are not correctly made. Fur-trimmed garments are not made from wolves, foxes, or raccoon dogs, but are made from domestic dogs and are labeled as other animals. Germany , Italy , France and China are the countries that mainly export pelts of pets, according to investigations made. As of February 2003, the European Parliament (MEPs) took the step to put order in Europe by banning the manufacturing of pet furs. In Italy , fur production is banned and followed most of the time, but not all the time.
