Country Name:   Germany

Population: 82,400,996 (July 2007)

Country Issue:

About 41.9 million people of the German population serve as employed workers for different businesses. The German federations have enforced their government to have laws and regulations that prohibit children less than 15 years of age to work. Also German employees are restricted to work no more than 48 hours a week, which reduces labor conflicts. Sweatshops are not much of a conflict because of the labor regulations. Employers pay a 25% premium for overtime hours. Sweatshops are rarely seen in Germany because sweatshop industries are not willing to pay minimum wage or overtime rates. Thanks to German regulations, the fashion sweatshops are not seen as much in Germany as in other countries.
