The people from Otavalo located in Ecuador have been recognized for their years of work, for their products weaved, and for their craftsmanship. The colonists who first arrived in Ecuador took advantage of the people with unfair treatment, which later led to more exploiting of people by sweatshops. This country’s economical status and mistreatment of the people has been around since 1964 and is still an issue today. Ecuador manufactures products for the United States fashion industries. The workers get paid small income and go through extreme work and living struggles. Organizations like Partnership to Eliminate Sweatshops Programs (PESP) are working globally to put an end to sweatshops and child labor in Ecuador and Honduras .
