In the warm waters of many tropical areas, life is busy and bright. Fish are darting through colorful sea plants. A crab scuttles across the sandy floor. A sea turtle slowly makes his
way along the top near the sun. All of these organisms make up a community called a coral reef. A coral reef is a "system that includes a collection of biological communities, representing one of the most
diverse ecosystems in the world." Coral reefs are so active, eventful, and vivid that they are named "the rainforests of the oceans".
