Am I under the right weight range?

When most people think of being overweight and obese, they think of diets. Well, diets are the last resort if you need to lose some weight. If you want to check the percentage of your body fat, you could talk to your parent(s)/guardian about getting it checked by a doctor. An easy way to find this out is to get your BMI checked (body mass index). If you are below five  percentile of body fat, you are under weight. If your BMI falls between the fifth percentile and the eighty-fifth percentile, you are under your normal weight. If your BMI falls between the eighty-fifth and ninety-fifth percentile, you are at risk of  being overweight. If your BMI is at or above the ninety-fifth percentile, you are overweight. An easy way to get your BMI checked is to use a BMI calculator. If you are at risk of being weight or you are overweight, do not become frightened. Nearly twenty-five percent of U.S. children are overweight- that's a fifty percent raise since 1970.  If you want to see if you are under the right weight range for your age group, check out our page on average weights.
