Weekly lunch meeting
Our fearless leader
With guidance from my fabulous piano and guitar teachers, I was able to create a short composition to complement the Flash introduction. At first, I played arpeggios to represent the calmness and harmony of the bloodstream. Then, I modified the melody to create a feeling of threat and menace. This is when MRSA enters, invades, and conquers the body. Finally, as MRSA completes its conquest, I played a few dramatic and melancholy chords to signify the bacterium's success.
Concentrating on the task at hand
Putting ideas on paper
The process of creating the website was challenging because we tried to focus on an inquiry model for learning rather than simply going through the process of research and report. Through this process, many interesting questions emerged. For instance, since a MRSA is a living organism and part of the ecosystem, what purpose does it serve? Is the pursuit to eliminate a living organism morally or ecologically wrong? The team experienced frustrations and many differences of opinions, but also arrived at new conclusions, developed consensus and pursued a common goal of global education in hopes to prevent infection and maybe save lives in the process.
