Background Information
We observed how the SMS and MSN language influenced the environment around us. But there are limitations on observing. Fortunately, there is the worldwide web to fill those unmended gaps of observing. As a result, we took loads of information from the web as secondary source.
We consider webpages to be safe or not by two distinct ways. Firstly, we look at the address and see if there is the word "gov". The word "gov" is the short form of "government". When "gov" is included in an address, that particular web is a government website, in other words, that web must be safe and legal. Secondly, our IT teacher has introduced to the majority a software called Mcafee. This software can help us distinguish good and bad websites by popping a symbol up beside the addresses. Therefore, we thank our teacher very much.
We have learnt that searching for relevent websites in Yahoo or Google etc., we need to use different sentences or words each trial in order to find a suitable website when using the search engines. It is because the computer may not get what you really want to know and what is in mind just by scanning through the phrase you have typed.
The websites we attempted contained different aspects of SMS and MSN lanuage. Some of them emphasised on the use of these languages, while some emphasised on the influences to the world of education and children etc.
Actually, we think observing is the most reliable information we get. It is because we see with our own eyes and never deny what we see. For example, the logo of Cafe De Coral became c-:d-:c-:. Everyone can see the alphabets "c","d" and "c". How about the spots and dots around them? They form three individual faces(including the alphabets)if you tilt your head towards the right when looking at them.
