1. The team collaboration
Since last
semester, we have searched the information about dragons on the internet together and then discussed the structure of our website.
When we decided the website content, we divided ourselves into three groups for three different
tasks: Story masters, News editors, and website masters.
1. Story masters: Story masters drew pictures and narrated for the dragon stories.
2. News editors: News editors edited the bilingual newspapers of Chinese dragons.
3. Website masters: Website
masters put the content we gathered, the stories and newspapers we made in our webpages with Frontpage.
To make our team more organized, we
selected two project managers to control the working schedule and assign the
work to other team members. Besides, we also went many places to take many pictures about Chinese dragons and taped the video of how our teacher wrote calligraphy!
Intercultural learning
cooperation through
the blog "Dragons' legend"
To
learn more about western dragons and know how other think about Chinese dragons,
we built up
the blog called "Dragons' legend " on which we discussed the
differences about Chinese and western dragons with our American and Italian
friends. It 's fun to know their reaction when they first saw the Chinese words
and calligraphy and their sharing about western dragons, which was really helpful when
we made the lists about eastern and western dragons' differences and
similarities. With the convenience of Internet, we could do the intercultural
learning anytime!
The difficulties
a. Time
limitation: Since we were too busy to do the research on weekends, we
had to work during the lunch break time. Sometimes, we discussed and assigned
tasks through emails and blog, which helped us overcome the time limitation
problem.
b. The limitation of
English writing and reading ability: Though we have learned English for several
years, our English writing ability is not good enough. So we sought our coach,
Miss Chang's help. She helped us translate our parts of our research into
English and taught us to read stories in English. Besides, Bo-an and Hao, who
lived in America before, could helped explain the content of some English
websites to other team members.
c. Argument
happens: We sometimes had argument when we had different
opinions but we felt great when we finally figured out the solution. The experience of working on a project together is really interesting and useful.
