Depression

What is depression?

Many people all over the world use the term depression exceedingly often and lightly. Yet, in reality depression is a disorder that disturbs normal functioning in a person’s daily life. It is an extended period of sadness, typically due to a dismal or disastrous event that recently occurred, such as the loss of a loved one. It can even be triggered by a very stressful situation. The causes of depression vary depending on how predisposed someone is to a depressive disorder. Depressive disorders cause abnormalities in a person’s mood, thought process, sleep cycle, appetite and behavior. Because of how greatly impacted you are by depression, the people around you who care about you are affected emotionally and psychologically as well.
What many people with depression don’t understand is that treatment can be obtained fairly easily and that the treatment has very low side affects compared to those of other disorders. Research has allowed for the advancement of medications, psychotherapies, and further methods for treatment

People can experience different or all the known symptoms of depression. The level of severity, occurrence and the extent of symptoms varies for everyone who is affected. Many people go through persistent aches and pains, headaches, cramps, and untreatable digestive problems. The loss of interest in activities once enjoyable and satisfying is another common side affect.
