Are they endangered? No, they are not endangered world wide. (IUCN Red list: Least concern)   

What are their past/present problems?  No current problems.

What do they look like?  These birds are different colors depending on where they live.  Some are brown and some are mostly gray.  Many times they have gray backs, reddish-brown wing feathers, black and gray striped tails, and yellow eyes. 

How big are they?  They are about 1 foot long.  If they spread out their wings, they would be about 2 ½ feet wide.

They perch around roads.  Sometimes they sit on telephone wires and sometimes fence posts.  They drop down from their perch to capture their prey.

The Roadside Hawk’s habitat is increasing because of logging in the tropical areas.  This is because this raptor likes to live in forest areas that are just starting to grow.
