Our team is made up of three fifth grade students from Hellen Caro Elementary School. Our team name is the wiPods. Everything new seems to be in first person- I. There is the iPod, iMovie, iMac, iDog, etc. We think things are more about all of us- we. Thus the wiPods. Our coach is our gifted teacher, Mrs. Julie Berry. We decided to work with on ways to get involved helping our environment. We found that there are plenty of small things that kids can do. Ali and Moria wrote and performed our own theme song, we did the claymation video ourselves, and there was no technical adult help with our website either. Ali and Moria got busy researching ways to help, and Alex started working with the website using Dreamweaver and Flash (he has taken courses at a local college to learn the basics). All of our Flash animation is original by Alex. Mrs. Berry provided the claymation supplies and we really enjoyed getting creative. Now our school is a recycling center for our community, with our guidance counselor heading that project. We've even been interviewed for a news story! Great things start small. |
