CAUSES

The cause of  pneumococcus is a bacteria called Streptococcus pneumonia. This bacteria is also the leading cause of pneumonia and other infections.

Pneumococcus spreads from peoples' throats and noses.
PREVENTION

Getting the pneumococcal vaccine is the only way to prevent pneumococcus. This vaccine is available for adults and children. Medical doctors suggest that if you are an elder, if you've had heart problems before, if you are a Native of America or an Alaskan native, or even a diagnostic person with any other diseases or infectional  bacteria illnesses that you be vaccinated against pneumococcus.  


TREATMENT

Doctors have now found a vaccine that will cure Pneumococcus. They will only use this vaccine if you are at high risk infection of this bacteria.
