As we all know, the Holocaust haunted and generated incredible crimes. In a terrible way, in the majority of European countries, under the strong influence of Nazism, racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia and discriminations (mostly ethnical, but not just ethnical) were set free. The testify of the painfully few survivors attest that for the parents all over Europe it was equally hard to watch helpless how their children are being murdered: in spontaneous pogroms , at the edge of their natal villages and on the streets of the cities, where their families were living for many generations – or in organized slaughters, on a large scale , in foreign places, where the exterminations could be hidden from the eyes of the world.

The question that motivated us to realize this study is the following: Why? It is relevant the fact that the tying of the anti-Semite accusations to the racial problems had determined the extreme gravity and the genocidal effects of Nazism. There are many hypothesis in what concerns the reason of the extermination of the Jew nation by the Nazis.: economical causes or religious. What's precise is that the Nazis thought that the Jews were responsible for what was seen as the degeneration of the modern society. Hitler saw the modern ideologies that sustained the ideas of equality and emancipation as a revolt of the classes and of the inferior individuals led by Jews.

That's how, starting up from this Nazi premise it was achieved the death of 10 million people, among which were 6 million Jews. The most part of these crimes happened in the “Death concentration camps”, and the principal instruments were the gas chambers and Zyclon B, a commercial pesticide having as a principle the cyanhydric acid. Our team collected data regarding the existence of the Holocaust in Romania, by this exposed thought, opinions and technical data regarding the presence of this social event in our country. In an article from a Romanian magazine “Dilemma”, it was stipulated: “Like the Gulag, the Holocaust is a complex phenomenon, with political, juridical, social and moral implications.

This term doesn't cover just the “extermination” of the Jews but also the measures that preceded it, prepared it and made it possible: discrimination by law, the lost of the civil rights, the dismissal, the confiscation of the properties, the forced emigration, the yellow star stigmatization, the deportation into the concentration camps…These measures were applied to the Romania of the years 1938-1944 and, one way or the other, they should find their place in a global definition of the Holocaust, beside the massacres made possible by different ways like : shooting, hanging, asphyxiation, combusting, intoxication with Zyclon B, hunger, cold, diseases – from which only the intoxication with Zyclon B was missing from the Antonescu's regime inventory.

So the subject that we studied so deep in this site is concerned with the tragedy of nation which had one single guilt. The membership to Judaism. Beyond any speculations. Doubts regarding the verosimility of the Holocaust, the collective sufferance urged us to bestow a bigger importance to this social event, the proportions of the genocide having a major impact over the postbelic society.

Echoes of the pain have buried in the human conscience, solidarity being the only cement favorable to understand the quantity of pain felt by these people. Lost lives, destroyed families, people reduced to a condition of slavery. Al of these any many more define the context in which we wish to situate this subject because we strongly believe that nothing must be covered up an d forgotten, because we might have been in their place.
