Have you ever
purposely not wanted to have medical care when in critical
condition? Robert Shurtleff refused to get medical care even
though his head was
seriously hurt. You might be asking why he didn't
want medical care, it's because he's a
woman named Deborah Sampson. She
craved more adventurous life so she disguised
herself as a man and
joined the army.
When they figured out she was a woman everyone
was shocked because of her
amazing service. She was a brave soldier that often volunteered for
dangerous jobs.
Instead of getting kicked out of the army in trouble she got an
Honorable Discharge.
Once she left the army she married Benjamin
Gannett and had 3 children. She taught
and lectured at schools about the war. She died at the age of 66.
